1. Special equipment is needed for maintenance and trial run of servo motor, but not for ordinary motor.
Because the structure of the servo motor is closed-loop feedback control, this feedback component is called the encoder, which is used to test the speed, position and torque function of the motor, but usually the encoders correspond one to one, that is, different motor series correspond to different drivers, and even the same series of different power motors correspond to different drivers, which can not be used interchangeably. Manufacturers in the design for their own interests, the communication protocol is not public, which directly leads to the high cost of maintenance and commissioning, ordinary motor maintenance of general industrial control maintenance companies can not do it. Usually ordinary motors only need 3-phase voltage regulation, DC voltage regulation, ordinary frequency converter is enough to cope with.
2. Complex problems caused by synchronous signals of servo motors.
Some people think that the incremental servo motor can be installed according to the original mechanical fixed position after repair. Here, we understand the servo motor as a brushless DC motor, the brush is gone, but it needs an electronic brush, that is, the calculated position relationship is used to control the current waveform, so that the motor can correspond to a good magnetic pole. the most efficient rotation, and before calculation, the magnetic pole relationship between the encoder and the motor must be fixed, the more the number of poles, the smaller the position offset error, because the servo motor is current mode control. Although the amateur marking method can usually be used, the three-phase current in a rotating cycle may be unbalanced, and the heat generated by working for a long time will be much larger than that of the normal motor, which may bring new problems and breakdowns. Normal use will also reduce the service life, so try not to use it in an amateur way. Usually, the standard way is to write down the position first, and after repair, the test also needs to connect the matching driver and ammeter, and debug repeatedly until the current is minimum and three-phase equalization. Ordinary motor maintenance usually measures three-phase voltage equalization, without such debugging capability.

3. The fault types of servo motors are much more than those of ordinary motors. In addition to mechanical repair, there are also electronic types of faults.
Because of the simple structure, the ordinary motor is usually treated by machine repair, machine addition, welding repair, winding and so on, and the requirement for electronic maintenance is 0. However, in addition to these, encoder failures also need to be dealt with, signal attenuation, communication interruption, speed instability, pulse loss is usually related to encoder circuit board electronic components, IC chip, must have electronic maintenance skills to deal with.
